[Milano Unica 2023] Project Antarctica – IMBOTEX
IMBOTEX, an Italian textile company, showcased their Project Antarctica at the recent Milano Unica 2023 exhibition. The project is a collaboration with D-Air Lab, funded by Lino Dainese, and focuses on creating padding for extreme climate conditions. The padding was tested for scientists and researchers who will be working in temperatures as low as -70 degrees Celsius. IMBOTEX used three different types of padding for this project: Cameluxe, made from recycled camel hair for warmth; Twins Graphene, for temperature regulation; and Nativa Silk Pad. In addition to Project Antarctica, IMBOTEX also presented their collection, which is divided into three categories: recycle, natural, and technical. The recycle collection includes products made from recycled materials such as silk, cashmere, wool, polyester, and recycled polyester. One example is Climalight, a padding made from 100% recycled polyester from European plastic bottles. The natural collection features high-quality wool, including Lana Merino, Bavarian Wool, and Lana Gentile di Puglia. IMBOTEX blends these natural fibers with other materials such as hemp, nettle, or tencel to create unique combinations of properties. The company takes pride in their mechanical process of reusing industrial scraps to create new padding, without the use of water or chemicals. IMBOTEX aims to provide comfortable, high-quality, and environmentally friendly paddings that respect nature and their clients’ satisfaction.
